Truist vs. Regions Bank HELOC
Truist and Regions Bank compared on rates, fees, borrowing limits and fixed-rate options, from each lender's published terms.
Disclosure: Shawn Way is a loan officer at West Capital Lending, Inc., which competes with these lenders. HELOCHQ isn't paid by any lender for reviews, and every fact below comes from the lender's own published terms.
Both are Southeast banks with intro rates and published ranges. Regions has the lower post-intro starting point, no listed annual fee and a shorter 24-month clawback. Truist lends in more states, including California, and offers larger lines, up to $1 million.

The difference that matters
Truist's intro rate lasts nine months; Regions' 3.99% lasts six billing cycles. Truist asks you to keep the line three years for paid closing costs; Regions asks for two.
Choose Truist if
- You live in California or another Truist state outside Regions' footprint
- You need a line over $500,000
- You want a longer 9-month intro rate
Choose Regions Bank if
- You're in a Regions branch state
- You may close the line within two to three years
- You want a cap on how much the rate can rise each year
If neither fits
Different lenders draw the line in different places on credit score, loan-to-value, property type and state. A broker can price several lenders with one application. Get your HELOC rate, or if you already have an offer from either lender, see how it compares with HELOCs closed this year.
